Stephen Rinn

Please see www.stephenrinn.com for his current website.

Stephen Rinn was born in 1960 and currently lives in Dublin. He attended the National College of Art and Design where he obtained a B.A. in 1986.

He is a member of the Visual Arts Centre where he continues with his practice of abstract painting.

During the 1990's he spent a long period of time living near the sea on the Howth peninsula which gave him an intimate knowledge of natural elements. At that time an abstract dialogue emerged concerning themes of open and closed spaces where marine and cliffs featured. The present work is informed by trips to Ballinskelligs Bay where he has gained residencies at the Cill Raillaig arts project and to the village of Allihies on the Beara peninsula which gives considerable inspiration.

He has participated in many group exhibitions and has shown work regularly in the RHA annual open exhibition.

He is represented in many private and public collections including the Irish Arts Council, Office of Public Works, The Hunt Collection.
